About Jinan

Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province in East China and has carried the nickname "City of Springs" (Quancheng) for centuries. Over 700 natural springs bubble within the city — a unique phenomenon that has shaped the city's culture since ancient times. The most famous is the Baotu Spring, which has been bubbling continuously for over 3,500 years. Baotu Spring Park is the heart of Jinan: Three main springs bubble up to 1.5 meters above the water surface, surrounded by classical Chinese pavilions, bamboo gardens, and calligraphy steles. The Confucian temple in the park is one of the oldest in Shandong. The old town can be explored on foot along the spring water canals — clear spring water flows through streets and private gardens. Daming Lake (Daming Hu) in the city center is another landmark: A 46-hectare lake fed by the city's springs, surrounded by parks, tea houses, and historic temples. In the evening, the waterfront promenade shines with colorful lighting. Qianfo Shan (Thousand Buddha Mountain) at the southern edge of the city houses Buddhist sculptures and cave art from the Sui and Tang dynasties (6th-10th century). From its summit, there is a panoramic view of the entire city. Jinan is strategically located between Beijing (1.5 hours by high-speed train) and Shanghai (3 hours) and is often underestimated as a stop on the route between the two metropolises.
