About Liuzhou

Liuzhou is a city in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi and the unofficial noodle capital of China. The city on the Liu River is nationally famous for its signature dish Luosifen — fermented snail noodles with a distinctive, polarizing aroma that has taken China by storm. The karst landscape around Liuzhou is breathtaking: hundreds of conical karst mountains weave through the cityscape like a natural skyline. Liuhou Park, with its namesake temple, honors the Tang Dynasty poet Liu Zongyuan, who lived here in exile in the 9th century and immortalized the beauty of the region. Yufeng Mountain (Fish Peak) offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and the surrounding karst landscape. The Chengyang Dong Bridge, one of the most famous wind and rain bridges in China, is located 170 km to the north in the Dong minority area — an architectural masterpiece made entirely of wood, built without nails. Liuzhou has also made a name for itself as an industrial city: it produces most of China's coffin products — a fascinating cultural fact. The city is considered an emerging insider tip for travelers who want to experience authentic China away from the tourist trails.
