About Yangjiang

Yangjiang is located on the southern coast of Guangdong Province and is famous throughout China as the "Knife Capital" (Dao Cheng): The knife production here has a tradition of over 1,400 years, and Yangjiang knives are among the three major knife brands in the world, alongside Swiss pocket knives and Solingen blades. The knife museum and factories can be visited. Hailing Island is Yangjiang's crown jewel: the fourth largest island in Guangdong offers kilometers of sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of Southeast Asia. Shili Yintan (10-Li Silver Beach) stretches over 16 kilometers and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in southern China — significantly quieter than the beaches of Hainan. The Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum houses the "Nanhai No. 1", a sunken trading ship from the Song Dynasty dating back to the 12th century. It is the best-preserved ancient shipwreck in China: the entire ship, along with its cargo, was raised from the seabed and is preserved in a special water museum. Over 180,000 artifacts — ceramics, gold, silver, and trade goods — document the wealth of the maritime Silk Road. The coast of Yangjiang also offers excellent conditions for seafood cuisine: The Zhapo fish market near Hailing Island is one of the largest fish markets in southern China, where freshly caught shrimp, crabs, shellfish, and fish can be prepared directly at the stalls.
