About Kuwait City

Kuwait City, the capital of the Emirate of Kuwait, is a modern metropolis on the Persian Gulf, whose wealth is based on oil. The city combines futuristic architecture with Arab tradition and offers a surprising cultural offering. The Kuwait Towers are the city's landmark — three slender towers with blue spheres that house water reservoirs and a revolving restaurant. The view from the observation deck over the skyline and the Gulf is spectacular. The Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Kabir), one of the largest mosques in the region, impresses with its simple elegance. The Souk Mubarakiya is Kuwait's oldest market and the heart of the old town: spices, gold, dates, incense, and traditional Arab clothing in labyrinthine alleys. Here, one can feel the old Kuwait beyond the glass towers. The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre is one of the largest museum complexes in the world (6 museums under one roof). Al Shaheed Park in the city center offers green oases, gardens, and the Kuwait House of Mirrors. The Dhow Harbor promenade recalls Kuwait's history as a pearl-diving nation.
