About Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls — known by locals as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (the smoke that thunders) — are the widest waterfall in the world and one of the seven natural wonders. Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Zambezi River plunges 108 meters over a width of 1,708 meters, creating a mist that can be seen for kilometers. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers two completely different experiences depending on the season: During the rainy season (March-May), 500 million liters of water flow into the gorge every minute — the spray drenches visitors to the bone. In the dry season (September-November), the curtain of water recedes, revealing the Devil's Pool — a natural pool right at the edge where one can swim. On both sides of the falls, the towns of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) and Livingstone (Zambia) offer an adventure ecosystem: bungee jumping, white-water rafting, helicopter flights, and safari tours.
