About Changzhou

Changzhou is a large city in Jiangsu Province, located on the Grand Canal between Nanjing and Shanghai. The city combines 2,500 years of history with one of China's most surprising tourism innovations: the China Dinosaur Park (Zhongghua Konglong Yuan), one of the largest and most visited theme parks in the country. The China Dinosaur Park covers 600,000 square meters and combines a scientific natural history museum with real dinosaur fossils and a modern amusement park with over 50 rides. The Universal Dinosaur City area offers roller coasters, water rides, and nighttime light shows. For families, it is one of the top destinations in East China. The Tianning Temple houses the Tianning Pagoda, which at 153.79 meters is the tallest wooden pagoda in the world. The 13-story pagoda was completed in 2007 and combines traditional Tang Dynasty architecture with modern engineering. From the top floor, there is a breathtaking view of the city. Changzhou has been famous for its comb culture (Changzhou Shuzi) for centuries: handcrafted boxwood combs are considered masterpieces of craftsmanship and are a popular wedding gift. The Comb Museum documents the 1,600-year history of this craft. Hongmei Park in the city center offers gardens, lakes, and historical pavilions.
