About Jinhua
Jinhua is a district city in Zhejiang Province and world-famous for Jinhua ham (Jinhua Huotui) — a dry-cured ham that has been produced using the same method for over 1,200 years and is often compared to Spanish Jamon Iberico or Italian Prosciutto. Marco Polo is said to have praised it as early as the 13th century. The Shuanglongdong (Double Dragon Cave) is an impressive cave system on Jinhua Mountain: Two springs gush from the cave entrance like two dragons — hence the name. The cave features several levels with stalactites, stalagmites, and underground waterfalls and has been a popular excursion destination since the Tang Dynasty. Zhuge Bagua Village (Zhuge Cun) is one of the most fascinating villages in China: The descendants of the legendary strategist Zhuge Liang have lived here for over 700 years in a village designed according to the Taoist Bagua system (Eight Trigrams). The winding alleys and canals form a natural labyrinth that once served to protect against intruders. The old town of Jinhua preserves its historic streets with Ming and Qing architecture, while Wuzhou Park and the promenade along the Wujiang River are popular recreational areas.
