About Wuhu

Wuhu is located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province and has been a significant trading city on China's longest river for centuries. The city combines Yangtze romance with a vibrant street food culture and a surprising tradition in iron art that has been perfected here since the Song Dynasty. Wuhu Iron Art (Wuhu Tihua) is UNESCO intangible cultural heritage and a unique Chinese art form: artisans forge intricate landscapes, flowers, and calligraphy from iron that resemble ink paintings. In the Iron Art Museum, visitors can watch the masters at work and purchase their own pieces. Jinghu Lake (Mirror Lake) is the green heart of the city and has been a popular recreational spot since the Song Dynasty. The pagodas, pavilions, and bridges around the lake reflect in the still water, creating a picturesque scene, especially at sunset. The adjacent Jinghu Park houses historical buildings and a small zoo. Wuhu is famous throughout China as the street food capital: Fenghuang Gourmet Street is a paradise for food lovers with hundreds of stalls serving regional specialties freshly prepared. The Yangtze Riverside Promenade offers a lively panorama in the evenings with views of the mighty river and the illuminated bridges. Tianmen Mountain (Heaven's Gate Mountain) on the Yangtze is a famous viewpoint where the poet Li Bai wrote his immortal verses about the beauty of the river during the Tang Dynasty.
