Climate Overview
Despite its small size, Albania has three very different climate zones, resulting from its topography — from the sea coast through the hill country to the alpine highlands:
| Region | Summer (Jun–Aug) | Winter (Dec–Feb) | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coast (Riviera) | 28–35°C | 8–15°C | Mediterranean, dry summers, mild winters |
| Tirana & Inland | 25–35°C | 2–10°C | Hot summer, cool winter, rainfall |
| Northern Albania/Alps | 15–25°C | -5 to 5°C | Alpine, snow Nov–Apr, cool summers |
| Southern Albania/Inland | 25–38°C | 3–12°C | Continental-Mediterranean, very hot summers |
Precipitation: Albania is one of the rainiest countries in Europe — however, the precipitation is concentrated in the winter months (October–March). In summer (June–August), it almost never rains on the coast. In the mountains, showers can occur year-round, especially in spring and autumn.
