Budget & Costs
The UAE is not a budget travel destination, but it is cheaper than its reputation — if you know where to save. The currency is the UAE Dirham (AED), pegged to the US Dollar (1 USD = 3.67 AED). The Euro rate fluctuates slightly but is around 1 EUR ≈ 4.0 AED.

💡 Tipp
Alcohol is extremely expensive in the UAE — a beer costs 40–70 AED (10–17 EUR) in hotels. To save money, purchase at Duty-Free upon arrival (max. 4 liters of spirits or 2 cartons of beer). Since 2024, there are also licensed alcohol shops (e.g., African + Eastern), for which you need a personal alcohol license.
