About Praslin

Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles and home to one of the rarest forests in the world: the Vallee de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the legendary Coco de Mer palm grows — the largest nut in the plant kingdom, whose erotic shape has fascinated travelers for centuries. The prehistoric palm forest feels like a journey back to the Mesozoic era. Anse Lazio in the north of Praslin is regularly voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: powdery white sand, turquoise water, framed by granite rocks and tropical vegetation — and without hotel complexes or mass tourism. Anse Georgette, accessible only by foot or boat, is even more untouched and also ranks among the world's best. The island is significantly quieter than Mahe and offers a more authentic Seychelles experience. The Creole culture is vibrant: small guesthouses, fish restaurants on the beach, and the relaxed lifestyle of the Seychellois shape daily life. The Praslin Museum showcases the history of the island from the pirate era to the present day. From Praslin, you can reach the neighboring island of Curieuse in 15 minutes by boat, home to its free-roaming Aldabra giant tortoises, and in 30 minutes the snorkeling paradise Ile St. Pierre — a tiny granite rock surrounded by corals and tropical fish.
