About Hammamet
Hammamet is the tourist capital of Tunisia and a place that has enchanted travelers for centuries with its captivating jasmine scent, golden sandy beaches, and picturesque Medina. The city is located on a curved bay in the Gulf of Hammamet, where the turquoise Mediterranean meets kilometers of fine sandy beaches. As early as the 1920s, European artists and intellectuals discovered the place as a winter refuge, and Romanian millionaire George Sebastian built a legendary villa here, which now serves as a cultural center and hosts the International Festival of Hammamet every summer. The Medina of Hammamet is a compact labyrinth of whitewashed alleys with blue doors and shutters, dominated by a 15th-century Kasbah, whose walls offer breathtaking panoramic views of the bay. In the narrow streets, there are spice merchants, pottery workshops, and small cafés where one can observe the hustle and bustle over a glass of mint tea. South of the old town stretches Hammamet-Yasmine, a modern tourist district with a marina, water park, and a replica of a traditional Medina complete with souks and restaurants. For German holidaymakers, Hammamet is an excellent value-for-money destination: Direct flights from Germany land at the nearby Enfidha airport in just two and a half hours, and hotel prices are significantly below the European average while maintaining high comfort. The region offers several top-class golf courses, excellent thalasso centers, and the opportunity to combine desert excursions in southern Tunisia with a beach holiday. The mild climate allows swimming from May to November, and even in winter, the thermometer rarely drops below 15 degrees.

Insider knowledge that makes your holiday better.
In the Medina, haggling is a must - never accept the first price quoted, a third to half is realistic
Tunisian dinars cannot be imported or exported - exchange money only at the airport in Tunisia
The Kasbah walls offer the best sunset views in the city - go there just before evening
All-inclusive often makes sense price-wise, but definitely visit the restaurants in the Medina as well
A day trip to Nabeul (15 min.) to the pottery market and orange blossom distillery is highly recommended
