About Dalian

Dalian is one of the most beautiful coastal cities in China — a modern port metropolis on the Liaodong Peninsula in the northeast of the country, surrounded by the sea on three sides. Unlike many Chinese metropolises, European influences shape the cityscape: Russian and Japanese colonial architecture from around 1900 stands alongside modern skyscrapers. Zhongshan Square, with its ten radiating streets and preserved Japanese-Russian buildings, resembles a European star square. The Binhai Road, a 32-kilometer coastal road, leads past cliffs, bays, and beaches — perfect for cycling tours with sea views. Tiger Beach (Laohutan) is Dalian's most popular beach with a marine park, while Xinghai Square, one of the largest city squares in Asia, is located right by the sea. The Bangchuidao Scenic Area offers bizarre rock formations along the coast. Dalian's fish markets and seafood restaurants are among the best in northern China. Discovery Kingdom (formerly Sun Asia Ocean World) is a large amusement park, and the nearby Jinshitan (Goldstein Beach) with its golden cliffs and kilometer-long beach attracts summer vacationers from all over northeast China.
