Sunny Beach - internationally known as Sonnenstrand - is Bulgaria's largest and most famous seaside resort on the Black Sea coast and has developed into Europe's most affordable party destination over the last two decades. The eight-kilometer-long sandy beach stretches in a gentle crescent along the bay of Nessebar and accommodates tens of thousands of bathers. For young travelers and budget-conscious vacationers, Sunny Beach is a paradise: here you can get cocktails for two euros, nightclubs are open until dawn, and a beach holiday costs a fraction of Mallorca or Ibiza. The party mile along the main street is the pulsating heart of Sunny Beach. Clubs like Cacao Beach, Mania, and Bedroom attract international DJs, and the numerous bars offer happy hour after happy hour. The party starts right on the beach, where daytime foam parties, beer pong tournaments, and DJ sets heat up the atmosphere. For those who want to party all night, there is a non-stop program from June to September. But Sunny Beach also has another side. The beach itself is truly beautiful - the sand is fine and golden, the Black Sea reaches pleasant temperatures of 24-26°C in summer, and the gentle entry makes it family-friendly. At the southern end of the beach, it is noticeably quieter, and here you will also find better hotels with well-maintained pool facilities. Water parks like the Action Aquapark offer families a break from beach life. The historic Nessebar is just three kilometers to the south and can be reached by bus in a few minutes. The UNESCO-protected old town on a peninsula is a contrast to the party life: Byzantine churches from the 5th century, cobblestone streets, and authentic Bulgarian restaurants make the day trip a cultural highlight of a Sunny Beach holiday. From Germany, it takes about 2.5 hours to fly to Burgas, and you can reach Sunny Beach in 30 minutes. The season lasts from May to October, with June to August being the hottest months with the most party life.
