Lan Kwai Fong & SoHo

Lan Kwai Fong (LKF)

Lan Kwai Fong is Hong Kong's legendary party mile — a steep L-shaped alley in Central, lined with over 90 bars, clubs, and restaurants. On weekends, the alley bursts at the seams: bankers in suits, backpackers in flip-flops, locals, and expats dance side by side. The vibe is infectious, the drinks are expensive (beer 60–80 HKD, cocktails 100–150 HKD), but the atmosphere is priceless. Take advantage of Happy Hour (5–9 pm) — many bars offer 2-for-1 deals.

SoHo

SoHo (South of Hollywood Road) is Hong Kong's most cosmopolitan district — a collection of international restaurants, wine bars, cafes, and galleries along Elgin Street, Staunton Street, and Shelley Street. Less hectic than LKF, but just as lively. This is where the locals love to eat: Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Indian — a culinary world tour in a few streets.

Wan Chai & Causeway Bay

East of Central, it becomes more local: Wan Chai is a district in transition — old Dai Pai Dongs (street kitchens) next to trendy cocktail bars, the Blue House (a restored Tong Lau building from the 1920s) next to modern residential towers. Causeway Bay is Hong Kong's shopping mecca: Sogo Department Store, Times Square, Hysan Place, and hundreds of small shops in the side streets. The densest, loudest, most Hong Kong-like.
