What does Bora Bora cost?
Bora Bora is expensive — there's no way around it. Almost everything has to be imported (7,000 km from the nearest continent!), and the island has deliberately specialized in luxury tourism. The currency is the CFP Franc (XPF), pegged to the Euro: 1 EUR = 119.33 XPF.

Budget / Backpacker (80–150€ per day)
Yes, Bora Bora can also be "affordable" — relatively speaking. Stay in a guesthouse on the main island (80–150€ including breakfast), eat at local "snacks" (snack stands) and "roulottes" (food trucks) in Vaitape, rent a bike instead of a boat, and snorkel from public beaches (free!). The lagoon is breathtaking everywhere — you don't need a resort to enjoy it.
Mid-range (200–400€ per day)
A high-end guesthouse or small boutique hotel with lagoon views (150–300€), an organized lagoon tour (including ray and shark swimming, BBQ picnic on a motu), dinner at local restaurants, and a dive. The best balance — you experience paradise with comfort, without luxury resort prices.
Luxury / Honeymoon (500–2,000€+ per day)
The full Bora Bora experience: an overwater bungalow at St. Regis, Four Seasons, Conrad, or InterContinental (from 700€/night, high season up to 2,000€+). Private lagoon tour, spa treatments, gourmet dinner, sunset cruise, and the motu picnic for two. Bora Bora in the luxury segment is a unique experience that is absolutely worth its price — if you want to indulge.

The biggest savings hack for Bora Bora: Stay in a guesthouse on the main island and book lagoon tours separately. You will experience the same lagoon, the same rays and sharks, the same Mount Otemanu — for a fraction of the resort prices. Many guesthouses offer half-board and organize excursions.
