By Plane
There are no direct flights from Germany to Laos. You will fly with a layover, typically via Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur.

Vientiane Wattay (VTE) — Capital
The largest airport in the country, just 3 km west of the city center. Connections to Bangkok (1.5h), Hanoi (1h), Ho Chi Minh City (2h), Singapore (3h), Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Chiang Mai. Airlines: Thai Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Lao Airlines, AirAsia, Bangkok Airways.
Transfer: Official taxi to the center 7 USD (10 min). Tuk-Tuk 5 USD. No public bus.
Luang Prabang (LPQ)
Small but well-connected airport, 4 km northeast of the old town. Connections to Bangkok (2h), Hanoi (1h), Chiang Mai (1.5h), Siem Reap (1.5h). Airlines: Lao Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Vietnam Airlines.
Transfer: Minivan shuttle to the center 50,000 LAK (2 EUR). Tuk-Tuk 50,000–60,000 LAK. Hotels offer free pickup.
Pakse (PKZ) — South
Small airport with connections to Vientiane (Lao Airlines, 1.5h), Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City. Gateway to the south (4000 Islands, Bolaven Plateau, Champasak).

The cheapest route: Fly to Bangkok (from 350 EUR return), then continue to Vientiane or Luang Prabang with AirAsia or Bangkok Airways (from 40 EUR). Or: Fly to Chiang Mai + bus/boat to Laos via Huay Xai — the most adventurous option including the Mekong Slow Boat.
