Climate Overview
Madagascar stretches over 1,600 kilometers from north to south and has extremely diverse climate zones — from tropical rainforest in the east to the cool highlands and semi-arid steppe in the south.
| Region | Dry Season (May–Oct) | Rainy Season (Nov–Apr) | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highlands (Tana) | 15–25°C, dry | 20–30°C, heavy showers | Cool at night (down to 5°C in July!) |
| East Coast | 20–25°C, occasional rain | 25–32°C, very humid | Humid year-round, cyclone risk Jan–Mar |
| South & West | 20–30°C, no rain | 30–38°C, short showers | Driest region, almost desert-like |
| North (Nosy Be) | 25–30°C, sunny | 28–35°C, thunderstorms | Tropical, warm year-round |
Important: The east coast receives rain year-round — there is no real dry season there. Between January and March, tropical cyclones can hit the east coast and the north, making roads impassable.
