Airports
Bucharest Henri Coandă (OTP) is Romania's main international airport. From Germany, the following airlines fly:
- TAROM — Romania's national airline flies from Frankfurt, Munich, and Berlin to Bucharest. Flight time: 2–2.5 hours. Prices: 100–300€ return.
- Lufthansa — From Frankfurt and Munich to Bucharest.
- Wizz Air — Cheapest option: From Dortmund, Memmingen, Cologne, Berlin to Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Iași. Tickets from 20€ one-way.
- Ryanair — Seasonal cheap flights from various German cities.
Other airports:
- Cluj-Napoca (CLJ) — Gateway to Transylvania. Many Wizz Air connections from Germany.
- Timișoara (TSR) — In the west, near Hungary and Serbia. Wizz Air and Ryanair.
- Sibiu (SBZ) — Right in the heart of Transylvania. Wizz Air from Dortmund and Memmingen.
- Iași (IAS) — Gateway to Moldova and Bukovina. Wizz Air from Germany.
Tip: Don't always fly to Bucharest! For Transylvania, Sibiu or Cluj-Napoca is often better and cheaper. Wizz Air offers tickets from 20€.
From Bucharest Airport to the city center: Express bus 783 (3.50 RON, 40 min.), taxi (officially book at the machine: approx. 50–80 RON, 30–45 min.) or Bolt/Uber (approx. 40–60 RON).
