T-money card — your everyday tool
The T-money card is your most important everyday tool in Korea — a rechargeable prepaid card for metro, bus, taxi, and convenience stores.
Purchase & Recharge
- Purchase: At any convenience store (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven) or at the airport for ₩2,500 (~1.75 €). Also available as a "Korea Tour Card" specifically for tourists (with discounts at attractions).
- Recharge: At metro machines (English menu), in convenience stores, or via app.
- Refund: Remaining balance under ₩20,000 is paid out in cash at convenience stores.

- ₩100 discount per metro ride compared to single-use tickets
- Free transfer metro ↔ bus within 30 minutes
- Payment in convenience stores, bakeries, some restaurants
- Taxi: Hold T-money to the card reader
💡 Tipp
Always load your T-money card with at least ₩10,000 — this way you won't have to reload constantly. At the end of your trip: cash out any remaining balance at a convenience store. Alternatively: use the "Cashbee" or "T-money" app on your smartphone (NFC-enabled).
