Flåm is a tiny village at the end of the Aurlandsfjord — and yet one of the most visited travel destinations in Norway. The reason for this is the Flåmsbana, one of the steepest railway lines in the world, which winds 20 kilometers through a dramatic fjord landscape of waterfalls, steep mountain slopes, and narrow valleys. The ride is considered one of the most beautiful train journeys ever. The village itself is picturesque by the emerald-green fjord water, framed by mountains up to 1,800 meters high.
