The underwater world off Los Cabos was once referred to by Jacques Cousteau as the aquarium of the world. Between November and March, humpback whales migrate through the waters, and whale watching is a moving experience. Year-round, you can snorkel with sea lions, encounter manta rays, and dive at the coral reefs. Playa del Amor, accessible only by boat and nestled between El Arco and the rocks, is considered one of the most romantic beaches in the world. San José del Cabo, the quieter of the two towns, enchants with its colonial old town, art galleries, an 18th-century mission, and upscale restaurants. The weekly Art Walk on Thursday evenings transforms the streets into an open-air gallery. Cabo San Lucas, on the other hand, is the party capital with famous beach clubs, a lively marina, and a nightlife that ranks among the best in Mexico. From Germany, you fly over the USA or Mexico City to San José del Cabo in about 15 to 17 hours. The best travel time is from November to May, when temperatures are pleasantly warm, whales swim off the coast, and the hurricane season is over.
