Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN)
The Aeropuerto de Barcelona-El Prat is located 12 km southwest of the city and is Spain's second-largest airport. Two terminals: T1 (major airlines: Lufthansa, Iberia, Vueling) and T2 (Ryanair, easyJet, and other low-cost carriers).
Flight Connections from Germany
- Vueling — Barcelona's airline (low-cost carrier with good service). From Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart. Prices: from 30€ one-way.
- Ryanair / easyJet — From many German cities, often from 20€ one-way. Be cautious with hand luggage rules.
- Lufthansa / Eurowings — From Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf. Flight time: 2–2.5 hours.
- Iberia — Via Madrid or direct. Comfortable option.

Local Transport
Metro
Barcelona's Metro (TMB) is fast, clean, and covers the entire city. 12 lines, well signposted, operates from 5 AM to midnight (Fri/Sat until 2 AM, Sat night continuously). The most important card: T-Casual (10 rides for 11.35€ in Zone 1) — valid for metro, bus, tram, and Rodalies trains. Single ride: 2.40€.
Bus
The bus network perfectly complements the metro — especially for routes not covered by the metro. Night buses (NitBus) run the main routes after midnight. City buses cost the same as the metro (T-Casual applies).
Bicycle & E-Scooter
Barcelona has an excellent bike path network, especially along the beach promenade and through the Eixample. Bicing is the city bike-sharing (only for residents), but there are numerous private rentals: Donkey Republic, Kleta, various e-scooter apps (Lime, Tier). Daily bike rental: 8–15€. Note: In the old town (Barri Gòtic, Born), cycling is prohibited or impractical in many alleys.
On Foot
Barcelona is a great city for walking — most attractions in the center are within 30 minutes on foot. However, the city has hills! From the beach to Park Güell involves elevation. Comfortable shoes are a must — cobblestones in Barri Gòtic can be tricky.
Taxi & Ridesharing
Barcelona's taxis (black-yellow) are affordable: base fare 2.50€, then about 1.10€/km. A ride across the city rarely costs more than 10–15€. Uber and Cabify are available in Barcelona and often slightly cheaper. Higher rates apply at night (10 PM–6 AM).
Tipp
Purchase the T-Casual card at the airport or any metro station (11.35€ for 10 rides) — it is valid for metro, bus, tram, and commuter trains in Zone 1. Significantly cheaper than single tickets.
