Brazil stretches from the equator to almost the 34th parallel — the climate varies enormously depending on the region. There is no single best travel time for the entire country. Here is an overview:

Climate Zones

• Tropical-humid (Amazon): Hot and humid year-round, 25–35°C. Rainy season: Dec–May. Dry season: Jun–Nov.
• Tropical-semiarid (Northeast, coast): Warm year-round, 25–32°C. Dry season: Sep–Feb (best time). Rainy season: Mar–Jul.
• Subtropical (South, São Paulo): Warm summers (Dec–Feb, 25–35°C), mild winters (Jun–Aug, 10–20°C).
• Highland (Brasília, Minas Gerais): Pleasant, 18–28°C. Dry season: May–Sep.

Best Travel Time by Region

Brazil is more expensive than many other South American countries, but still significantly cheaper than Europe. The Real has depreciated against the Euro in recent years, making Brazil more attractive for European travelers.
