Baksheesh (Tipping)

Baksheesh (بقشيش) is not optional in Egypt — it is an integral part of the culture and economy. Many service workers (porters, toilet attendants, parking attendants) earn the majority of their income through tips. What may seem like begging is an established compensation system.
