City Buses (Libertás)
The Libertás bus network connects all major districts. The main lines:
- Line 6: Pile Gate → Lapad → Babin Kuk (every 15–20 Min.)
- Line 1A/1B: Pile Gate → Gruž Port (every 10 Min.)
- Line 10: Pile Gate → Cavtat (every 30 Min.)
Single ride: 2€ (from the driver), day pass: 5€. The Dubrovnik Card includes bus rides.
On Foot
The Old Town is completely car-free and compact at 0.2 km² — everything is reachable within 10 minutes on foot. However: Dubrovnik is hilly! From the Old Town to Ploče or to Srđ, it's a steep climb. Comfortable shoes are a must — the marble of the Stradun is as slippery as ice when wet.
Ferries
Ferries to Lokrum (old port, every 30 Min., 15€ round trip), to the Elaphiti Islands (Gruž port, Jadrolinija) and to Cavtat (old port, 15€ round trip). In summer, also speedboats to Korčula, Mljet, and Hvar.
Taxi & Transfer
Taxis in Dubrovnik are expensive: base fare 2€, then 1.20€/km. The ride from Old Town → Lapad costs about 10€, Old Town → Airport 35–45€. Uber is available in Dubrovnik and often cheaper.
Rental Car
For day trips (Ston, Pelješac, Montenegro), a rental car is ideal. Prices: from 30€/day. Rent at the airport or in Gruž. Note: There are no parking spaces in the Old Town — nearest parking: Pile or Gruž (expensive in summer).
💡 Tipp
Buy the Dubrovnik Card on the first day: 1 day (35€), 3 days (45€), or 7 days (55€) — includes city walls, museums, and unlimited bus rides. Worth it from the first moment, as the city walls alone cost 35€.
