Climate Overview
Edinburgh has a temperate maritime climate — mild, wet, and windy. The city is located on the east coast of Scotland and is therefore drier than Glasgow (west coast), but the wind from the Firth of Forth can be biting. The weather is unpredictable — the Scots say: "Four seasons in one day." Pack for everything.

Wind: Edinburgh is a windy city — the Firth of Forth channels the Atlantic wind directly into the streets. It can blow fiercely, especially on Castle Rock, Calton Hill, and Arthur's Seat. A windproof jacket is a must.
