International Flights
Fiji's international airport is Nadi International Airport (NAN) on Viti Levu. There are no direct flights from Europe — you will need at least one stopover:

Fiji Airways is Fiji's national airline and flies from Sydney, Auckland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and other destinations to Nadi. The airline has a good reputation and offers friendly service in the Bula spirit.
Prices: Return flights from Germany to Nadi usually cost 900–1,500€ in Economy Class. Early bookings (6–9 months in advance) and the off-season (November–April) offer the best prices. Compare via Skyscanner, Google Flights, or Momondo.
Nadi Airport: Small but modern and friendly. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with "Bula!" and often with guitar music. ATMs, SIM card shops, and a taxi stand are directly in the arrival hall. From the airport to Nadi Town: 15 minutes by taxi (approx. 15 FJD), to Denarau: 25 minutes (approx. 30 FJD).
Transport between the Islands
Boats & Ferries
Boats are the main mode of transport between Fiji's islands. The key connections:
- Yasawa Flyer (South Sea Cruises) — The daily catamaran from Port Denarau to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. Departure at 8:30 AM, return around 6:00 PM. Stops at all major islands. One-way to the northernmost Yasawa Island: approx. 225 FJD. Bula Pass for island hopping: from 450 FJD (5 days).
- South Sea Cruises Transfers — Speedboats to individual Mamanuca Islands (30–90 minutes). From 80 FJD one-way.
- Awesome Adventures Fiji — An alternative to the Yasawa Flyer with similar routes and the Awesome Pass.
- Patterson Brothers Shipping — Large ferries on long routes: Suva → Savusavu (12h, night ferry), Suva → Taveuni. Affordable (from 50 FJD deck class), but slow and basic.
- Goundar Shipping — Newer ferries on the route Suva → Savusavu → Taveuni. More comfortable than Patterson.
Domestic Flights
Fiji Airways / Fiji Link flies daily between the main islands:

Additionally, there are seaplanes and helicopters from Turtle Airways and Pacific Island Air — spectacular (but expensive) transfers directly to the resorts. Seaplane from Nadi to the Mamanucas: from 400 FJD one-way.
Transport on Viti Levu
- Local Buses: Cheap (1–10 FJD), frequent, and authentic. Kings Road (northern route Nadi–Suva) and Queens Road (southern route via Coral Coast). The buses are colorful, loud, and always full — an experience in itself.
- Rental Cars: From 80 FJD/day. Left-hand traffic! The roads on Viti Levu are mostly well-paved. Budget, Hertz, and local providers at Nadi Airport.
- Taxis: Plentiful in Nadi and Suva. Always agree on the price beforehand or insist on the meter. Nadi Airport → Denarau: approx. 30 FJD.
Tipp
Book domestic flights as early as possible — the small planes fill up quickly. Always confirm your flight by phone 24 hours in advance. "Fiji Time" unfortunately also applies to flight schedules — delays and cancellations occur.
