Pacific Harbour & Beqa Lagoon
Pacific Harbour — about 150 km east of Nadi — has earned the title "Adventure Capital of Fiji". The most exciting adventures on the main island are concentrated here: sharks, rapids, zip-lines, and the mystical firewalking ceremony.
Shark Diving in the Beqa Lagoon
The Beqa Lagoon off the coast is one of the best shark diving spots in the world. Up to eight different shark species — including bull sharks, tiger sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and nurse sharks — gather at the feeding sites. The dives are led by experienced guides and are suitable for divers without shark experience. Prices: from 290 FJD for a 2-tank dive. PADI Open Water certification required.
Upper Navua River Rafting
One of the most spectacular river trips in the South Pacific: The Upper Navua River winds through a narrow gorge with limestone walls up to 100 meters high, past waterfalls and dense rainforest. The tour is conducted on traditional Bilibili bamboo rafts or modern inflatable boats. Half-day or full-day tour: from 250 FJD.
Zip Fiji
In the rainforest behind Pacific Harbour stretches Fiji's most exciting zip-line: Glide over the treetops of the tropical jungle in several stages. The longest stretch is over 200 meters long. Price: from 190 FJD.
Arts Village — Firewalking
In the Arts Village near Pacific Harbour, the ancient firewalking ceremony (Vilavilairevo) of the Sawau tribe of Beqa is performed. The ceremonial participants walk barefoot over glowing stones — a privilege reserved only for this clan. There is a cultural show with Meke dances beforehand. Admission price varies depending on the event.
Achtung
Shark diving is exciting, but respect the animals. Book only with certified providers (e.g., Beqa Adventure Divers, Aqua-Trek) who focus on safety and sustainability. Follow the guides' instructions at all times.
