The Plaza de la Revolución is Cuba's political epicenter — a vast, barren square (72,000 m²) that can accommodate a million people. Here, Fidel Castro delivered his hour-long speeches, here the May Day mass rallies take place, and here stands the iconic Che Guevara relief on the facade of the Ministry of the Interior — the most photographed motif in Cuba.
What is there to see?
- Che Guevara Relief: The huge steel relief with the famous Che portrait and the inscription "Hasta la Victoria Siempre" (Until the Eternal Victory) at the Ministry of the Interior. Below: the Museo del Che (free entry).
- Camilo Cienfuegos Relief: Opposite the Che relief, at the Ministry of Information: the relief of the other revolutionary hero with the inscription "Vas bien, Fidel" (You're doing well, Fidel).
- José Martí Monument: The 109-meter-high tower (Havana's tallest building) in honor of the Cuban national hero. The viewing platform offers the best 360° view over all of Havana. Entrance: 5 CUC.
