The Four Seasons
Autumn (October–November): The Best Travel Time
The perfect season for Hong Kong: clear, blue skies, pleasant temperatures (22–28°C), low humidity, and the best views of the skyline and from the mountains. Victoria Peak is at its best. Perfect for hiking (Dragon's Back!), island hopping, and outdoor experiences. Fewer tourists than in summer, fair prices.
Winter (December–February): Mild and Dry
Hong Kong's winter is mild (14–20°C) — cold for Hongkongers (who immediately bring out their down jackets), pleasant for Europeans. The air is clear, the views are fantastic, and the city is decorated for Christmas (Harbour City and Central are spectacular) and Chinese New Year (January/February — fireworks over the harbor, parades, flower markets). Off-season prices outside the holiday weeks.
Spring (March–May): Foggy and Humid
Spring brings fog and high humidity — Victoria Peak often disappears into the clouds, and visibility can be limited for days. Nevertheless, temperatures are pleasant (20–28°C), nature blooms, and there are fewer tourists. Not ideal for sightseeing, but good for food tours and cultural experiences.
Summer (June–September): Hot, Humid, Typhoons
Oppressive heat (27–33°C), extreme humidity (up to 99%), and regular downpours. Air conditioners are in full swing — the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors can be 15°C. Typhoon season: storms can disrupt plans. However: Sale season in the malls and dramatic cloud formations over the skyline. Recommended only for those who can handle the heat.
💡 Tipp
The golden rule for Hong Kong: October and November are the perfect months — clear skies, pleasant temperatures, best visibility. December to February is also great for winter travelers (mild temperatures, dry air). Avoid June to September if you dislike heat and humidity.
