Canopy Zipline in Boquete
Glide through the canopy of the rainforest — Boquete Tree Trek offers one of the best zipline experiences in Central America: 12 platforms in the treetops, the longest zipline is 280 m long and crosses a deep gorge. From 65$ for about 3 hours. Adrenaline guaranteed, even if you're not the most extreme adventurer.
White-Water Rafting
The Río Chiriquí Viejo is one of the best rafting rivers in Central America — Class III–IV rapids through a spectacular gorge landscape. Tours start in Boquete and last half a day. From 65$. Suitable for beginners (with an experienced guide), but also exciting enough for advanced rafters.
Hot Springs near Caldera
Natural hot springs in the Río Caldera, about 30 minutes from Boquete. Various pools with different temperatures, surrounded by tropical vegetation. The perfect way to unwind after a hike or the Barú ascent. Freely accessible — just follow the signs from Caldera.
Birding in the Highlands
The highlands of Chiriquí are a birding paradise. In addition to the Quetzal, there are over 500 documented bird species here:
- Finca Lérida: The best birding lodge in Panama — from the restaurant terrace, you can observe dozens of species without taking a step.
- Quetzal Trail: Not just for the Quetzal — motmots, hummingbirds, tanagers, and toucans are common here.
- La Amistad: Deep cloud forest with rare highland species.
- Guides: A local birding guide (from 50–80$/half-day tour) makes the difference between "heard a few birds" and "identified 50 species".
