Best Travel Time & Climate
Poland has a continental climate with four distinct seasons: warm summers, cold winters, a colorful autumn, and a mild spring.
🟢 Best Time: May–June and September
The ideal travel months for most visitors:
- May–June: Pleasant 18–25°C, long days (sunset after 9 pm!), blooming parks. Perfect for city trips and hikes. Fewer tourists than in high summer.
- September: The insider tip. Still warm (16–22°C), golden light, university towns awaken after summer. Masuria and the Baltic Sea are quieter, prices lower.
☀️ Peak Season: July – August
Warm to hot (25–32°C), ideal for the Baltic coast and Masuria. Krakow and Warsaw are full of tourists, but the cultural program (festivals, open-air concerts) is richest. Chopin concerts in Łazienki Park!
🍂 Autumn: October – November
The "Golden Polish Autumn" is legendary: The forests of Masuria and the Tatras glow in red and gold. Krakow in October is magical — few tourists, mist over the Vistula, full cafés. From November it gets cold and gray.
❄️ Winter: December – February
Cold (-5 to +2°C), but beautiful: Christmas markets in Krakow and Wrocław are among the most beautiful in Europe. Zakopane transforms into a ski paradise. Warsaw in the snow is photogenic. But: short days (darkness from 4 pm).

💡 Tipp
For a tour around all of Poland, June and September are perfect: warm enough for the Baltic Sea, not too hot for city sightseeing, and fewer tourists everywhere than in the peak summer. The Christmas season (early December) is a reason to visit on its own — Krakow's Christmas market is one of the most beautiful in the world.
