Entry & Visa
Visa
Germans, Austrians, and Swiss do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. Only a passport (valid for at least 6 months) and a return or onward flight ticket are required. Entry is uncomplicated and quick — Taiwan has one of the most efficient border control systems in Asia.
Important: Taiwan and China are separate entities for visa purposes. A Taiwan stamp in the passport has no impact on China visas and vice versa. Since 2024, Taiwan only stamps passports upon request — you will receive a separate entry slip by default.
Customs
Allowances: 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, goods up to 20,000 TWD (approx. 590€). Importing fresh fruit, meat, and plants is strictly prohibited and subject to heavy fines (up to 1 million TWD!). Luggage is partially X-rayed.
