Safety
One of the Safest Countries in the World
Taiwan is extremely safe. The crime rate is one of the lowest worldwide — significantly lower than in most European countries. Pickpocketing is rare, violent crimes against tourists are practically unknown. You can walk alone at night in any city, leave your wallet in a café (you will very likely get it back), and leave your luggage on the platform.
What to Still Watch Out For?

| Earthquakes | Occasional | Check evacuation plan at the hotel |
| Fraud | Very low | Prices are transparent, taximeters are used |
| Sunburn | High | UV index is very high in summer! Use sunscreen SPF50+ |
