Climate Overview
Hungary is located in the Pannonian Basin, protected by the Carpathians and Alps. The result is a distinct continental climate: hot, dry summers and cold, foggy winters. The Great Plain in the east experiences the most extreme temperatures — over 38°C in summer, below -15°C in winter.

Sunshine Hours: Hungary is one of the sunniest countries in Europe — with over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, up to 2,200 in the Puszta. From June to August, the sun shines an average of 10 hours daily.
