Climate Overview
Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Central Asia, far from any sea. The result is an extreme continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The temperature fluctuations are immense — both between seasons and between day and night.

Precipitation: Uzbekistan is predominantly dry. Most rain falls in spring (March–April). In summer, it practically never rains. The humidity is low year-round — the heat is therefore drier and more bearable than in tropical countries, but 42°C is still 42°C.
The Seasons
Spring (March–May): The Perfect Travel Time
Spring is the best time to visit Uzbekistan. The temperatures are pleasant (15–28°C), the landscape turns green after winter, and the fruit trees bloom — a spectacular sight, especially in the Fergana Valley. From mid-March, it gets warm enough for comfortable sightseeing, and by the end of May, temperatures rise significantly. April and May are the most popular months — and the travel time we recommend.
Summer (June–August): Scorching Heat
In summer, Uzbekistan becomes extremely hot: 38–45°C in Bukhara and Khiva, even over 35°C in Samarkand. Sightseeing is only possible early in the morning and in the evening; during the day, you desperately seek shade. Hotels are cheap, tourists are scarce — but the heat is brutal. Only for heat-resistant travelers.
Autumn (September–November): Also Ideal
Autumn is, alongside spring, the second optimal travel time. September and October offer pleasant 18–28°C, bright blue skies, and harvest time: markets overflow with grapes, melons, pomegranates, and figs. From November, it gets cold, and the days become short.
Winter (December–February): Cold and Quiet
Uzbek winters are cold and gray: temperatures around freezing, occasional snow, short days. The sights are almost deserted — a dream for photographers (Registan in the snow!), but not ideal for comfort travelers. Hotels are at their cheapest. Heating in accommodations can be weak.
Tipp
The absolute best travel time is mid-March to mid-May and September to mid-October. Avoid July and August — sightseeing in Bukhara at 45°C is no fun. If you must travel in summer: start at 6 a.m. and take a siesta from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Conclusion: Uzbekistan is not a year-round destination. The Golden Travel Time is in spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October). In these months, everything aligns: weather, fruit, atmosphere, and prices.
