Climate Overview

Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Central Asia, far from any sea. The result is an extreme continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The temperature fluctuations are immense — both between seasons and between day and night.

CitySpring (Mar–May)Summer (Jun–Aug)Autumn (Sep–Nov)Winter (Dec–Feb)
Tashkent12–28°C30–42°C10–28°C-3 to 8°C
Samarkand10–26°C28–38°C8–26°C-5 to 6°C
Bukhara14–32°C32–45°C12–30°C-2 to 10°C
Khiva12–30°C30–43°C10–28°C-5 to 5°C

Precipitation: Uzbekistan is predominantly dry. Most rain falls in spring (March–April). In summer, it practically never rains. The humidity is low year-round — the heat is therefore drier and more bearable than in tropical countries, but 42°C is still 42°C.
