Harbour Bridge & Bridge Climb★★★
The Sydney Harbour Bridge — affectionately known as "The Coathanger" — is, alongside the Opera House, the second landmark of the city. Opened in 1932, the steel arch bridge spans the harbor at 503 meters in length and 134 meters in height and is the largest steel arch bridge in the world (by span).
The BridgeClimb is Sydney's most thrilling activity: In a group of up to 14 people, you climb in special suits over the outer arch to the top of the bridge — 134 meters above the harbor water. The 360° panoramic view over the harbor, the Opera House, the skyline, and the Pacific is unforgettable. The tour lasts 2.5–3.5 hours and is also manageable for those with moderate fear of heights (you are secured at all times).
BridgeClimb Prices:
- Summit Climb (full arch): 288–403 AUD depending on the time of day
- Twilight & Night Climbs are the most popular (sunset over the harbor)
- Sampler (shorter route, half arch): from 188 AUD
Free Alternative: The pedestrian walkway over the bridge is free and also offers fantastic views. Walk on the east side (Opera House side) for the best view. At the southern end, a staircase leads to the Pylon Lookout (19 AUD) — a museum in one of the bridge pylons with a viewing platform, much cheaper than the BridgeClimb.
💡 Tipp
The BridgeClimb at sunset (Twilight Climb) is the most popular — book 2–4 weeks in advance. You are not allowed to bring a camera (safety), but the photographer at the top takes group photos (included in the price). For savers: The Pylon Lookout for 19 AUD offers 80% of the experience for 5% of the price.
