San Pedro de Atacama is a small village with a surprisingly good restaurant scene — though priced at tourist level. The Calle Caracoles is the main street with most options.

€ Budget (under 8,000 CLP)

Franchutería · Toconao 442 — Breakfast and sandwiches, perfect before the early morning geyser tour. Filled baguettes from 4,000 CLP, good coffee.

Cocina Milagro · Tocopilla 390 — Family-run with Chilean home cooking. Menú del día 5,500 CLP (soup + main course + drink). Only lunch.

La Casona · Caracoles s/n — Empanadas straight from the clay oven (3,000 CLP) and Completos. Simple, authentic, delicious.

€€ Mid-range (8,000–18,000 CLP)

Adobe · Caracoles 211 — The most popular restaurant in San Pedro. Chilean-Atacameño cuisine: Llama steak (15,000 CLP), quinoa risotto (12,000 CLP), local wine. Evening campfire in the courtyard. Reservation recommended!

Baltinache · Caracoles 170 — Named after the lagoons: Modern Andean cuisine, excellent llama fillet, vegetarian options. Pisco Sour with Atacama herbs 6,000 CLP.

CKuri · Caracoles s/n — Atacameño cuisine with indigenous ingredients: Chañar fruits, quinoa, cactus. Menu from 12,000 CLP.

Bars

Chelacabur Pub · Caracoles 234 — The backpacker hangout with cheap Pisco Sours (4,000 CLP) and Kunstmann beer on tap. Live music on weekends.

Salon de Té Etnico · Tocopilla 379 — Tea room and cocktail bar with local herbal teas and creative Pisco cocktails.

💡 Tipp

In San Pedro, those who eat at midday save a lot of money. The "Menú del día" (Almuerzo) is available in simple restaurants for 5,000–6,000 CLP — in the evening, the same dishes cost double. And: The tap water in San Pedro is drinkable but very mineral-rich — bottled water is more pleasant.
