The Two Seasons

Dry Season (May–October): The Peak Season

The dry season is the most popular travel time for Fiji — and for good reason. Temperatures are a pleasant 23–28°C, humidity is moderate, and it rarely rains for long periods. The sun shines an average of 7–8 hours per day. Especially June to September offers perfect weather for beach vacations, diving, and snorkeling.

The drawbacks: Higher prices (especially July/August and around Christmas/New Year), fuller resorts and flights. Early booking is a must in the peak season, especially for the popular Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands.

Rainy Season (November–April): Fewer Tourists, More Adventure

The rainy season does not mean constant rain — but rather short, intense tropical showers (mostly in the afternoon), followed by sunshine. Temperatures rise to 26–31°C, and humidity is high. The vegetation bursts into lush green, the waterfalls are more spectacular, and prices drop by 30–50%.

Beware of Cyclones: From November to April, there is a risk of tropical cyclones. Severe cyclones are rare (on average 1–2 per season), but they can be devastating. Most do not hit the islands directly — but flexible travel plans and good travel insurance are essential during this time.

💡 Tipp

The Sweet Spot: May and October. Still good weather, but already/off-season prices. Fewer tourists, cheaper flights and accommodations — and the water is warm enough for diving.
