Climate Overview
Fiji is located between the 15th and 22nd parallel south of the equator — right in the tropics. The climate is warm year-round, with temperatures between 23°C and 31°C. There are two main seasons:
| Season | Months | Temperature | Rain | Special Feature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dry Season (Winter) | May–October | 23–28°C | Low | Best travel time, less humidity |
| Rainy Season (Summer) | November–April | 26–31°C | High | Hotter, more humid, cyclone season |
Important to know: Fiji's weather patterns differ between the west side (drier, sunnier — where Nadi is located) and the east side (wetter — where Suva is located). The mountain range on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu intercepts the moist southeast trade winds, making the west sides of the islands significantly drier.
The water is warm year-round: 25–29°C. Even in "winter" (July/August), you can swim in the sea for hours without getting cold.
