Long Street, Woodstock & Nightlife

The Long Street is Cape Town's legendary nightlife strip — a colorful, loud, crazy street lined with Victorian buildings with wrought-iron balconies, packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, hostels, and vintage shops. Everyone gathers here: backpackers, locals, hipsters, tourists, and night owls. On weekends, the street pulses into the early morning hours.

Woodstock — Cape Town's Creative Soul

The former industrial district Woodstock has transformed into Cape Town's hippest neighborhood: street art on every corner, craft breweries, design studios, galleries, and the famous Neighbourgoods Market (Saturdays, 9 am–3 pm) in the Old Biscuit Mill. The city's best chefs serve their creations here — from Ethiopian Injera to Japanese Ramen to South African Biltong. Be sure to come with an empty stomach!

Other Food Markets

  • Oranjezicht City Farm Market — Every Saturday at the Waterfront: fresh produce, breakfast and brunch, local delicacies. Cape Town's healthy lifestyle in one place.
  • Bay Harbour Market (Hout Bay) — Friday to Sunday: live music, craft beer, and countless food stalls in an old fish hall. Relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly.

Nightlife

Cape Town's nightlife is diverse and international:

  • Long Street: Bars and clubs door to door — from rooftop cocktails to underground clubs. A mix of backpacker vibe and local flair.
  • Bree Street: The more elegant alternative: cocktail bars, wine bars, and upscale restaurants. Less chaos, more style.
  • Kloof Street: Cozy bars, craft beer locales, and restaurants on the slopes of Table Mountain. The most relaxed nightlife strip.
