Regions at a Glance

Colombia is vast and diverse. Five travel regions cover the main highlights:

🏙️ Bogotá & Boyacá

For whom: Culture lovers, history fans, foodies
The capital Bogotá is located at 2,640 meters on a high plateau in the Andes and surprises with an explosive cultural scene, world-class gastronomy, and the legendary Gold Museum. In the province of Boyacá, the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá (one of South America's architectural wonders) and the sleepy colonial town of Villa de Leyva with its huge main square await.

🏖️ Cartagena & Caribbean Coast

For whom: Beach vacationers, romantics, adventurers
Cartagena de Indias is South America's colonial dream: UNESCO old town, colorful balconies, salsa rhythms. East of it lies the spectacular Tayrona National Park (jungle meets Caribbean beach), the surfer's paradise Palomino, and Ciudad Perdida — a lost civilization in the jungle of the Sierra Nevada.

🌸 Medellín & Coffee Zone

For whom: City explorers, coffee lovers, hikers
Medellín, the "City of Eternal Spring," has transformed from the epicenter of drug cartels to a model of innovation. The Comuna 13 graffiti tour tells this story impressively. Guatapé with its iconic rock and the Coffee Zone with the Cocora Valley (60-meter-high wax palms!) are must-sees.

🐋 Pacific Coast & Islands

For whom: Nature lovers, divers, adventurers
Colombia's wild west: In Chocó, the rainforest meets the Pacific. From July to October, humpback whales migrate along the coast — Nuquí and Bahía Solano offer whale watching up close. The Caribbean islands of San Andrés and Providencia boast one of the world's most beautiful reefs.

🌿 Amazon & Natural Wonders

For whom: Adventurers, nature lovers, photographers
In Leticia on the Amazon, the adventure begins: jungle tours, pink river dolphins, and the tri-border area. Caño Cristales, the "Rainbow River," glows between June and November in red, yellow, green, and blue. And the Tatacoa Desert offers Colombia's clearest starry sky.
