Arrival by Train & Ferry

By Train from Germany

The train connection Hamburg–Copenhagen takes about 4.5 hours and is one of the most beautiful rail routes in Northern Europe. The train travels through Schleswig-Holstein, crosses the border at Padborg, and reaches Copenhagen via the bridges. Prices: from 29€ with early booking via DSB (Danish State Railways) or Deutsche Bahn.

By Ferry

The Scandlines ferry Puttgarden–Rødby (45 minutes) is the classic route for drivers and is also used by trains (the ferry transports the train!). From 2029, the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel is expected to replace the crossing — then the journey Hamburg–Copenhagen will only take 2.5 hours.

By Car

From Hamburg via the ferry (or the future tunnel) to Copenhagen: approx. 4.5–5 hours. Note: In Copenhagen, a car is more of a burden than an advantage — parking is expensive (up to 35 DKK/hour in the center = 4.70€), the streets are optimized for cyclists, and public transport is excellent. If you have a car, park it at the hotel and use bike and Metro.
