Fes & Meknès

Fes is the oldest of Morocco's four imperial cities — and the spiritual capital of the country. The Medina of Fes el-Bali is the largest car-free urban area in the world: a labyrinth of 9,400 alleys where 150,000 people live, work, and pray as they have since the 9th century. Added to this is Meknès, the often overlooked sister city with imperial architecture, and the Roman ruins of Volubilis — together one of the richest cultural regions in all of North Africa.
