Rooftop Cafés
Seeing the Djemaa el-Fna from above — this is the second-best place (after the square itself). Several cafés and restaurants at the edge of the square have rooftop terraces with panoramic views:
The best rooftop terraces
- Café de France: The classic — right on the Djemaa, inconspicuous entrance, three floors up. The terrace offers the best panoramic view over the entire square. Mint tea: 15 MAD. Food: mediocre, but that's not the point. Come 30 minutes before sunset — the front row seats are in demand.
- Le Grand Balcon du Café Glacier: On the southern edge of the square — less known, but with a great view. Quieter than Café de France.
- Nomad: Modern restaurant on the corner of the square — more stylish and expensive, but with the best combination of view and food. Reservation recommended. Main course: 80–120 MAD.
- Café des Épices: Not directly on the Djemaa, but on the Place Rahba Kedima (Spice Square) — a quieter alternative with a view over the Medina rooftops. Perfect for the afternoon.
