Internet & Communication

Mobile Internet

Thanks to EU roaming, you can use your German mobile contract in Slovenia without additional costs. Slovenia has a good network coverage — 4G/LTE in all cities and tourist areas. In the mountains (Triglav National Park) and remote valleys, the signal may be weaker. The mobile providers A1, Telekom Slovenije, and Telemach cover the country well.

WLAN

Free WLAN is available in hotels, cafés, and restaurants almost everywhere. Ljubljana has a public WLAN network (WiFree) in the city center. Many campsites and mountain huts now also have WLAN — the quality varies.

Useful Apps

  • Google Maps / Waze — Navigation, also download offline maps (network can be weak in the Soča Valley)
  • BicikeLJ — Bike rental app for Ljubljana
  • Slovenian Tourist Board App — Official tourism app with information, routes, and events
  • ParkSimply — Parking ticket via app in many Slovenian cities
  • Hribi.net — Hiking trail app for Slovenian mountains (indispensable for mountain hikers)
