Best Travel Time & Climate
Argentina stretches over 3,500 km from north to south — accordingly, the climate zones vary. In general: Argentina is in the southern hemisphere, so the seasons are opposite to Europe!
Buenos Aires & Pampas
Spring/Autumn (Oct–Nov, March–May): Ideal! Pleasant 18–25°C, little rain. The most beautiful months for the city.
Summer (Dec–Feb): Hot and humid, 30–38°C. Many Porteños flee to the coast. But: Long evenings and nightlife boom.
Winter (Jun–Aug): Mild, 8–16°C. Occasionally cold, but rarely below 0°C. Good travel time, fewer tourists.
Patagonia (El Calafate, El Chaltén, Ushuaia)
Summer (Nov–March): THE travel time! Long days (light until 10 PM), 10–20°C, trekking paths open. December–February is peak season — book early!
Winter (Jun–Aug): Very cold (-10 to 5°C), short days, many accommodations and paths closed. But: Skiing in Ushuaia and Bariloche!
Shoulder season (Oct, Apr): Fewer tourists, cheaper prices, but unpredictable weather. Some paths still/already closed.
Northwest (Salta, Jujuy)
Dry season (Apr–Nov): Ideal! Bright blue sky, daytime 15–25°C, cold at night (especially at altitude). The colors of the Quebrada shine most intensely.
Rainy season (Dec–March): Heavy afternoon showers, some roads impassable. Still warm and green.
Iguazú
Travelable year-round: Subtropical, 20–35°C. In the rainy season (Nov–March) more water = more spectacular falls, but also hotter and more humid. Dry season (Apr–Oct) more pleasant, but less water.
Mendoza & Wine Country
Harvest (Feb–Apr): The best time! Harvest festivals, perfect weather (20–30°C). March is ideal.
Winter (Jun–Aug): Ski season in Las Leñas and Los Penitentes. Bodegas open year-round.

💡 Tipp
For a round trip that combines Buenos Aires, Patagonia, AND the Northwest, October–November or March–April are ideal: Still/already warm in Buenos Aires, trekking season in Patagonia begins/ends, dry season in the north.
