Granville Island, Vancouver, BC
Public Market: täglich 9:00–19:00
Eintritt frei

Granville Island was a rundown industrial area under the Granville Street Bridge until the 1970s. Today, it is Vancouver's creative heart — and one of the best public markets in North America. The transformation from factory halls to studios, theaters, breweries, and the legendary Public Market is considered one of the continent's most successful urban development projects.

The Granville Island Public Market is the highlight: Over 50 permanent stalls offer everything from fresh salmon to handmade pasta to maple syrup chocolates. The quality is outstanding, the atmosphere vibrant. Try the Smoked Salmon at Longliner Seafoods, the Donuts at Lee's, and the Cheese Selection at Benton Brothers.

Beyond the market: dozens of artist studios and galleries, Granville Island Brewing (Canada's first craft brewery, tours with tastings), the Kids Market (perfect for families), street musicians, and kayak rentals with views of the downtown skyline.

💡 Tipp

Take the Aquabus water taxi (3.75 CAD) from Downtown to Granville Island — it's faster than by car (parking search!) and the crossing is a little highlight in itself. Saturdays are the liveliest at the market, but also the busiest.
